Self-Publishing in Australia: Blog Series

Hello fellow aspiring authors!

I am the self published author of 'A Glimpse of Light & Glory', a LGBTQ+ YA Contemporary Fantasy Romance novel. It was after much internal debate that I decided to self publish my debut novel, but it was only after that decision had been made that I realized the work that I would need to put in to the process.

I have done a lot of research into self publishing. I've watched all the AuthorTube videos about self publishing. Read all the how-to's that I could find. But things are different here in Australia, from dealing with America-based platforms, as well as finding the Australian-alternatives to some of the necessary requirements when it comes to self publishing. There was nothing Australian focused when I was self-publishing that I could simply go through and tick. There are still elements that are the same as what you might already know, but majority of the information you'll find online is focused on the American self publishing aspect.

I'm here to change that.

Here, I am going to publish a series of blog posts, detailing my personal process in self-publishing my debut novel, as well as all the mistakes I made and hiccups I ran into (so that you don't have to). I will cover every thing that I believe is 100% necessary, as well as other things that I do not personally believe are necessary, but are optional (emphasis on personal - those choices are at your discretion). There will be a few points I am that will be purely my own opinion, so you can chose to ignore it or not.

I want to make it easier for other Australian's to navigate the self-publishing world, by explaining all the options I have come across/discovered.

I will try to relay as much detail as I can in each post, and make it as clear and concise as possible. I will also give any of my personal recommendations (again, followed at your discretion), as well as all the services that I used for my debut novel.
